2010 Happy New Year from Kaowao Newsgroup

Kaowao
January 1, 2010

Dear Reader,

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank and acknowledge the many people who have supported Kaowao over the past two years. Your support on both equipment and morale allowed for the expansion of Kaowao multimedia projects, including the launching of the Rehmonya Radio program which has been broadcasting news to Mon speakers inside Mon State. We have applied the funding we have received for basic maintenance, equipment, broadcasting, and for the gathering of information and research conducted by our small team of reporters inside Burma.

You have made a real difference by supporting our commitment for change and lasting peace in Burma. Your funding directly affects our motivation to continue on with our work in broadcasting Rehmonya Radio and to develop our media works on the many issues facing the Mon and the political situation inside Burma.

On this occasion, we wish to thank the following organizations who has provided us with the most support and help, including, Internews (Thailand), Open Society Institute (OSI), and the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy. We have always had a loyal core of volunteers and supporters who have contributed their time and money into the running of Rehmonya Radio, Rehmonya Video, Kaowao Bulletin, Kaowao E-news and the four language (Mon, Burmese, Thai, English) versions of the Kaowao Website; especially those Mon who have maintained our website and the Mon working in Europe and South Korea who donated funding for office equipment, it would have been difficult to stay afloat without your support.

We also like to acknowledge our readers, even the most casual (we know you’re out there!), and to let you know that we believe in freedom of speech and that we possess a strong desire to improve the information the Mon receive inside Burma and to those living as Burmese migrants overseas. Our endeavors at this time are becoming a challenge without basic financial needs. But even with minimum financial and human resources Kaowao has remained determined to move forward and achieve our goals.

Your additional support will make a huge difference in these critical times – please consider a small donation – any amount will be much appreciated and will go a long way.

Thank you for your generosity, we wish you a prosperous and successful New Year 2010

Kind Regards,

Kaowao Team
